Position: Virtual Mandarin Teaching Volunteer instructor Time Commitment: At least once a week (2 hours shift) Service Area Location: Scarborough Area (Virtual) Respond to: Lydia Li, Volunteer Coordinator, Email: lydia@splc.ca We welcome volunteers all year round! About Us Senior Persons Living Connected (SPLC) is a not-for-profit, charitable organization. SPLC's basket of services, programs and healthcare support complex and wide-ranging social and health needs of diverse individuals and their caregivers. People can access supports that are tailored to the individual, including: geriatric services, addictions and mental health services, care management and coordination, in-home supports, transportation, exercise and active living classes, health and wellness education and clinics. Position Summary: Teach older adults and seniors (who speak Cantonese) how to speak Mandarin via Zoom. Position Description: • Set teaching objectives and expected outcomes • Prepare teaching curriculum, lesson plan, and power point • Apply adult learning principles to engage older adults and seniors in basic Mandarin learning. Qualifications: • Strong computer skills, must be familiar with zoom. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Mandarin • Able to manage the class • Patience, self-motivated, respectful and reliable • Some teaching experience.
